The importation and exportation of goods is allowed, subject to certain exceptions, only to persons with an Import Export Code (IEC) issued by the competent Authorities.

Customs duties are imposed on imports of goods by applying the rates laid down in the Customs Tariff Act. Imported goods may be stored for a limited period in a warehouse under customs arrangements without payment of the duty which will eventually be due thereafter, when intends to clear the goods.

To proceed with the sale of products in India, the following types of contracts can be used:
